Installation

Hi,

I've also installed debian on the alix board. I did it this way:

1. setup DHCPD with this option:

  subnet 192.168.1.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 {
      option routers 192.168.1.1;
      range 192.168.1.10 192.168.1.20;
      filename "debian-installer/pxelinux.0";
      next-server 192.168.1.100;
}

2. setup TFTP server, I like tftpd-hpa. Here is /etc/default/tftpd-hpa

   TFTP_USERNAME="tftp"
   TFTP_DIRECTORY="/srv/tftp"
   TFTP_ADDRESS="0.0.0.0:69"
   TFTP_OPTIONS="--verbosity 65535 --create --secure"

3. download debian's net-install - netboot.tar.gz

  mkdir -p /srv/tftp
  cd /srv/tftp
  tar xzf netboot.tar.gz

4. add first line debian-installer/i386/boot-screens/syslinux.cfg

  SERIAL 0 9600 0

5. change debian-installer/i386/boot-screens/txt.cfg

  append console=ttyS0,9600n8 initrd=debian-installer/i386/initrd.gz --

And now you can run normal Debian's install ;-)
